SHICKEN, the Asian-inspired plant-based brand, is expanding its presence in the US market with a new listing at Costco. The brand’s award-winning Tikka Kebab, which has seen a 15% sales increase in Costco UK and Europe over the past year, will be available in Costco US stores, initially in the northwest region.
This expansion makes SHICKEN the only UK plant-based brand in Costco US stores, with a potential revenue opportunity of over $40 million across the entire Costco estate. The brand has also secured listings at Sprouts Farmers Market, with products available in 380 locations across 23 states.
SHICKEN recently reformulated its products to be free from the top 14 allergens, using British-sourced pea protein. The company received an additional £4 million investment from Veg Capital, bringing the total investment to £6 million.
Co-founder Parm Bains called the expansion into Costco’s domestic market a “game-changer,” potentially opening doors to further global markets including Canada, Mexico, Australia, Japan, and Korea.
